LOUIS MAURICE, Ph.D. Peacefully on April 6, 2001, at his residence, Louis Maurice, beloved husband of Anne (nee Patson) passed away at the age of 78 years. Predeceased by an infant son Paul, his parents and his brother Eddie, Louis leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife Anne; one son David and his children, Tristan and Hayley; two daughters, Denise (Bill) and children, Evan and Elyse; Diane (John) and children, Johnathan and Justin; his brother and sisters, Lucille, Yvonne, Flora, Jeanette (Emile), Gerry (Shirley), Sister Cecile, S.P.M., Clemence (Dollard), Pierrette (Louis) sister-in-law Elvy and his aunt Rev. Sister Cecile, S.G.M. Louiss teaching career began in Selkirk, Man., followed by Prince Albert, Sask. Moving back to Manitoba, he taught the French Program at Churchill High School. He later accepted a professorship at the University of Manitoba, Department of Education. He was instrumental in integrating the French Program into the school system. Louis was a great husband, father, grandfather and educator who approached life with a sense of humour and was a true gentleman. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. In lieu of flowers, donations in Louiss memory can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, 301 - 352 Donald St., Winnipeg, Man., R3B 2H8. Prayers will be said on Monday, April 9 at 7:00 p.m. in the Desjardins Funeral Chapel, 357 Des Meurons St. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, April 10 at 1:00 p.m. in the St. Bernadette Roman Catholic Church, 80 Cottonwood Rd., with Father Fred Olds presiding. Service to terminate at the church. Cremation to follow. Interment will take place at a later date at Glen Lawn Memorial Gardens.
