GEORGE SHARP 1910 - 2001 Peacefully at Concordia Hospital on Thursday, April 5, 2001, George Sharp passed from this life to be with his Lord. He is survived by daughter Elaine Wolfe (Ernie) son Ken (Shirley) grandchildren, Garth, Mitch and Jeff Wolfe and families; Kerri and Scott Sharp; his sister Lil; brother Joe; sister-in-law, Della Mayor; niece Arlene Richardson and eight much loved great-grandchildren. For the past five years Dads caregiver and housemate was his grandson Bruce Cederwall, son of daughter Rosalind who predeceased him in 1992. George and twin brother Albert were born May 17, 1910 in a two room house within walking distance of the current Weston Shops. The doctor arrived on horseback to deliver them. Dad began his boiler maker apprenticeship with the C.P.R. at an early age, working his way to supervisory positions in Kenora, Fort William and finally Winnipeg Weston Shops. Throughout his life Dad served others. He was a member of the Gideons and enjoyed distributing Scriptures to schoolchildren. When he lived in Kenora he took office in the Oddfellows Lodge where he visited the sick and dying. Church was a very central part of his life. He spent many hours on the building Committees of First Baptist Church Kenora and Fort William, seeing these projects to completion. Dad and his brother Albert were craftsmen and artists in many areas. Putting their job skills together, they kept busy during their working and retirement years helping out neighbours and doing projects for various organizations and churches. A celebration of Georges life will be held on Monday, April 9 at 1:00 p.m. at Neil Bardal Inc., 984 Portage Ave., entrance at Aubrey St. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Georges memory to Broadway Baptist Church, 790 Honeyman Ave., R3G 0Y1.
