EILEEN FRANCES BURTON (nee BROWN) It is with great sorrow that the family announces the passing of Eileen Frances Burton on April 5, 2001 at the age of 83. She goes to find peace with the love of her life, her late husband, Bill. Born in 1918, she was raised in Winnipeg, educated at Daniel MacIntyre Collegiate. She married John William Burton in 1940 and enjoyed 37 years of marriage until his passing in 1977. She worked until her retirement at Howells Uniform and Corsetry Shoppe. Eileen was the President of the Monday Afternoon Womens Bowling League at Polo Park Lanes for many years, and enjoyed bowling with friends and family at the Park Alleys. She collected many trophies for her bowling achievements. She also volunteered many hours over the years with a variety of charities. Eileen enjoyed the friendships she made with neighbors on Rathgar Avenue, with the seniors of the Fort Rouge Leisure Centre, and with the residents of Fred Tipping Place and Beacon Hill Lodge where she shared games of penny bingo and whist. Along with her husband Bill, Eileen is also predeceased by her brother Norman Brown and brother-in-law George Burton. She leaves to mourn her passing her loving family; daughter Val (Gerry) Prystai, son Brent (Bev) Burton, son Glenn Burton, daughter Cheryl (Jim) Benoit; grandchildren Lee and Dale Burton, Jennifer Prystai, and Ilena Benoit. Also, lovingly remembered by her sister Cleone Duncan, brother Ernie (Norma) Brown, sister-in-law Bessie Burton, and many nephews and nieces. The family wishes to thank all the doctors and nurses of the St. Boniface Hospital Dialysis Unit, and the kind, considerate staff of the Beacon Hill Lodge who have all helped our Mother through a long and difficult illness. A memorial service will be held Monday, April 9 at 3:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. with Rev. Sharon Wilson officiating. Interment to follow in Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens. Flowers are gratefully declined. Donations in Eileens memory can be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association,102-310 Broadway Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3C 3R2 or to the Salvation Army Memorial Fund, 500-55 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3C 1L8. Although we mourn our loss for you, Mother We know the time was right; To return to the husband who loves you, And a peaceful, restful night. God will take good care of you, For that we know in our hearts, And, when we meet again, sweet Mother, We will never, ever part. We love you.
