LESLIE (LES) SIMPSON On April 3, 2001 at the age of 80 years, Leslie Charles Simpson passed away peacefully at the Grace Hospital. He leaves behind his devoted wife of 57 years, Muriel; his children, Rob (Jane) Simpson, Jane (Gerry) Weiler, Betty (Keith) Nelson; and his daughter-in-law Doreen Simpson. He was "Grampa" to Joanna and Ginny Weiler, Chris Simpson, Gill, David, Sean, and Ange Simpson, Josh and Brittany Nelson. Less sisters, Mildred Bowie and Claire (Ralph) Lloyd will cherish the memories of their only brother. Les was predeceased by his oldest son John. Les was born and raised in Winnipeg, Man. He graduated from the University of Manitoba with a Degree in Engineering. Upon graduation, he joined the Army Engineers Corps and was posted to Chilliwack, British Columbia. Throughout his working life he managed a number of his own businesses. He was always interested in construction and retired from ATCO in 1986. Les loved the outdoors. He was a keen hunter and angler. He had many happy memories of "The Canvasback Lodge" and the cottage at Laclu, Ontario. He was a long-standing member of the Fort Garry Lions Club and a member of Westworth Church for many years. He also belonged to the Game and Fish Association of Manitoba. In lieu of flowers, donations to Westworth United Church Legacy Fund, 1750 Grosvenor Ave., Winnipeg MB, R3N 0H9 or a charity of choice would be much appreciated. A memorial service will be held at Westworth United Church, on Tuesday, April 10 at 2:30 p.m. with the Reverend Clark Saunders officiating.
