JEANNE M. DEFOOR With great sadness, the family of Jeanne Defoor announce her passing on Wednesday, April 4, 2001, at Concordia Hospital, in her 89th year. Jeanne was born in St. Boniface and attended St. Joseph and King George V schools. She worked as a professional seamstress for the Canadian Shirt Co. and the Northern Shirt Company. In 1942 Jeanne began work at the Transcona Cordite Plant, helping the Second World War effort. After the war she worked for the T. Eaton Company making many of the flags that adorned the citys flag poles. In the mid 1940s being Happyland Swimming Pool Supervisor on Marion Street, brought her great joy working with young people. Jeanne married John Bruneteau in 1934. In 1946 she married Maurice Defoor. They moved to the United States in 1952. Jeanne returned to Winnipeg in 1956 resuming her career with the T. Eaton Company until her retirement in 1976. In 1984, she moved from her home on Marion Street to Elizabeth Road where she lived until moving to Meadowood Manor on St. Annes Road. Jeanne was an angel sent from heaven, everyone who knew her would acknowledge this. Family was very important to her.
