Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMICHALINA SMADYLA Peacefully on Friday, April 6, 2001, at Holy Family Nursing Home, our beloved grandmother and great-grandmother Michalina Smadyla aged 100 years. Michalina was born in selo Zastinoche, povit Teribowlia, W. Ukraine, and came to Canada in 1922 residing in Winnipeg until her demise. She was a well known north end grocer and butcher operating with her late husband Joseph for many years. Michalina was a member of Sts. Vladimir and Olga Cathedral, U.C.W.L. of the parish, Institute Prosvita, Kniahyna Olha, Ukrainian Cultural and Educational Centre (Oseredok). She leaves to cherish her memory, granddaughter Deborah Baryski; grandson Brian Baryski (Linda) great-granddaughters, Carmelle, Kimberly, Courtney, Stacey, Melissa; step-granddaughters Mary-Anne (Paul) Preyma, Theresa Crerar; step-grandchildren, Bradley and Corinne; numerous relatives and friends in Ukraine. She was predeceased by her first husband John Baryski in 1934, second husband Joseph Smadyla in 1978; son Myron Baryski in 1989; step-daughter Beatrice Crerar in 1961 and brother Kazimir Gawinski in 1987. Prayers will be sung 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 10 at Korban Funeral Chapel, 907 Main Street. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 11 at Sts. Vladimir and Olga Cathedral, 115 McGregor Street, with Rev. M. Kouts officiating. Interment to follow at Holy Family Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to a charity of ones choice. We wish to thank the fine staff at Holy Family Nursing Home for their loving care our Grandma was given. Family was important to Grandma. She was a great inspiration to all who knew her.
