She was predeceased by her parents, Ida and Alex Fraser; husband Harold; and brother John Fraser. Mom was born at the family homestead in Basswood, MB December 14, 1906. She spent her childhood in Basswood and as a young lady moved to Port Arthur to work for Canadian National Railway. In 1934, she married Harold Lamb and they moved to Spruce Home, SK where their three sons, Lloyd, Donald and Larry, were born. In 1945, the family moved to Basswood to operate Lambs Hardware. Their daughter Joan was born in Minnedosa. The family moved to Brandon, MB in 1954. Grandma enjoyed her years living in Brandon and especially her time while working at Eatons. In 1964, Mom moved to Winnipeg where she continued to work for Eatons until her retirement. Grandma enjoyed her retirement by travelling throughout the country, visiting her family and special trips to California, Maritimes, Hawaii and Victoria. She will be remembered for her love and support, shortbread cookies, hand knitted socks, sweaters and afghans and needlepoint pictures that her family will cherish. Grandmas friends played an important part in her life; she valued each and every friendship. Dancing and playing cards were among Grandmas favourite activities. Grandma always encouraged her family to enjoy life. She supported all the decisions her family made. Marie is lovingly remembered by her brother Stewart Fraser of Vernon, BC; and sons, Lloyd and Linda Lamb of Winnipeg, Don and Gail Lamb of Mississauga, ON, Larry and Lynne Lamb of Naches, Washington; and daughter Joan and Ron Tomory of Webster, New York. Grandchildren, Laura Lamb and Steve Garner, Susan Lamb and Ian Harkness, Brenda Lamb, Shannon Lamb, Tara Tomory and Rick Amico, Sherri Tomory, Christine Lamb and Dale and Lisa Lamb. Two great-grandchildren, Eden and Jewel. Honorary great-grandpets, Bud and Scooter. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Crohns & Colitis Foundation of Canada, 306 - 2265 Pembina Hwy., Winnipeg, MB R3T 5J3. A graveside service is being held at the Brandon Cemetery, 1901 - 18th St. South in Brandon on April 12 at 1:00 p.m., with Rev. Donald Hudson officiating. A reception will follow at the Victoria Inn. She has provided us with a passage to the future while preserving our past; a selfless soul guarding the cradle of our memories. In her soothing embrace she holds this family together, guiding us with her subtle wisdom and the gentle voice of diplomacy.
