BENJAMIN HAROLD CARSON Born December 15, 1919, Ben passed away at Grace Hospital, April 9, 2001. Ben served five years in the Royal Canadian Signal Corps during the Second World War. He was honourably discharged with the rank of Sargeant-Major. After leaving the service, he conducted business at Reliable Motors in the north end, for 50 years with his partner Harry Finkleman. At different times Ben also actively served on the boards of Manitoba Housing and Renewal Corp. and the Manitoba Securities Commission. His work there resulted in long-lasting friendships. Ben was admired and greatly respected in the community. He is survived by Edith, his beloved wife of 51 years, his son Howard of Ajax, ON, and his daughter Bev and son-in-law Ralph Samphir. He also leaves behind his sister Beatrice Penn, brother-in-law, Gerry Bennett (Margaret), nieces, Claudia Sarbit (Sam), Eileen Pelland (Maurice) and nephews, Ken Kraven and Robert Bennett. He will be sadly missed by his four grandsons, Matthew and Gregory Carson, Harrison and Charlie Samphir. He was predeceased by his parents, his brother Morris and his sisters Tillie Kraven and Lil Greenberg. Interment took place at Shaarey Zedek Cemetery on April 11. Pallbearers were David Gurvey, Abe Posen, Ralph Samphir, Marvin Samphir, Sam Sarbit and Martin Zeilig. The family wishes to thank the nurses and staff at Grace Hospital, especially in the Intensive Care Unit for their wonderful care and support.
