PAUL PENNER It is with great sadness that the family of Paul Penner announce his passing on Wednesday, April 4, 2001 in Vancouver. Pauls memory will be cherished by his wife of 53 years, Gladys; and two sons, Larry of Dallas and David (Marion) and their two children, Matthew and Zoe of Winnipeg. He is survived by his brothers and sisters, John, Peter (Elly), Ann (Ben Rempel), Henry (Louise), and Bill (Anna). He was predeceased by his sisters, Mary (George Epp), Helen and Agnes (Peter Stobbe). Paul was born in Rosenthal (Ukraine) and arrived in Canada at the age of two. He spent his boyhood and teen years on the family farm at Osborne, Manitoba. He served several years in the army and enjoyed his working life with Winnipeg Transit until his retirement in 1982. He loved reading, vegetable gardening, playing bridge with friends, and spending time at his winter retirement home in Desert Hot Springs, California. He was an avid Blue Jays fan and spent many summer evenings cheering on the Goldeyes with his grandson Matthew. Paul was a man of integrity, kindness and inner strength. He helped his family and many others, and remained concerned about his family, especially his loving wife and partner, until his last day. Strong hands, gentle heart and quiet guidance. He will be greatly missed. Funeral services will be held at Crescent Fort Rouge United at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, April 12. Interment will be at Glen Lawn immediately following the service and a short reception at the church. In lieu of flowers, as an expression of sympathy, memorial donations may be made in Pauls memory to the Cancer Society.
