EDWARD WALTER WARREN March 7, 1938 - April 7, 2001 After a courageous battle with cancer, Ed is at peace with the angels above. He will be sadly missed by his beloved wife Marion; sons Blaine (Irene), Todd (Leona) and Rod (Jennifer) grandchildren, Blair, Michael, Emily, Duncan, Jordan, Breanna and his mother-in-law, Evelyn Pollock. He was predeceased by his parents Walter and Margaret Wener. Ed was born in Winnipeg. He married Marion Pollock in 1960 and together they raised three sons. Ed started with the Fort Garry Fire Dept. and rose to the ranks to become Captain at Station #22. Ed was also a plumber and avid do-it-yourselfer, renovating his own home and always willing to help others with theirs. Ed was a loving and loyal husband, father, and grandfather. He enjoyed fishing, camping, boating and cooking. His special interest was fine woodworking and he completed numerous beautiful "Intarsia" plaques for family and friends. He maintained his great sense of humour even in the final stages of his sickness. Ed was also a member of the Fort Garry Legion Branch #90. A Service of Remembrance will be held on Wednesday, April 11 at 11:00 a.m. in the Leatherdale Gardiner Funeral Chapel, 1501 Waverley St. Special thanks to the "Angels on Earth" at the Victoria General Hospital Oncology Department, the Palliative Care at the Riverview Health Centre as well as Drs. L.M. Cummings, Maxwell, Marr and Adams. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba Foundation, 100 Olivia St., Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9 or the Fire Fighters Burn Fund, 202-666 St. James St., Winnipeg, MB R3G 3J6.
