ANN WREGLESWORTH Ann died on April 6, 2001, in Vancouver in her 59th year after a courageous struggle with cancer. Predeceased by her husband Seppo Ruohonnen, Ann was born in Barnoldeswick in Yorkshire, England, and lived in Toronto, Kitimat, B.C., Winnipeg and, most recently during her illness, with her sister Mary in Lions Bay, B.C. In her position in Corporate Communications with Eurocan Pulp and Paper, James Richardson and Sons and, most recently, Investors Syndicate in Winnipeg, Ann traveled widely and developed many friends and acquaintances. She leaves her parents George and Jean Wreglesworth; sister Mary and brother-in-law Allan Gerrard; brother Peter and sister-in-law Ute Philips; nieces, Kirsten and Adriane Gerrard and nephews, Jonathan and Simon Wreglesworth and Kyle Philips. All of us who had the opportunity to be with Ann during her illness experienced first hand her strength of character and courage and admired her unfailing dignity, grace under pressure, humour and utter lack of self-pity. Ann will be fondly remembered and much missed by her close friends and family. "She was too long in the homecoming and too soon in the leaving." Very special thanks and heartfelt appreciation go out to surgeon Dr. Richard J. Findlay of the Vancouver General Hospital, Dr. Robert Follows of Lions Gate Hospital and all of Anns wonderful nurses, staff and volunteers at the Lions Gate Hospital Palliative Care Unit in North Vancouver. At Anns request there will be a private gathering of family and close friends to celebrate her life. In lieu of flowers, friends may send donations in her name to the Lions Gate Hospital, Palliative Care Unit, 23 East 15th Street, North Vancouver, B.C., V7L 2L7. Hollyburn Funeral Home, 922-6822.
