He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 43 years, Annette (nee Dureault), his daughter Jackie and partner Lynn, sons Ted and wife Marilyn, and Tim and partner Barry, and his four grandchildren Samantha, Eric, Natasha and Christian. He will also be sadly missed by his brothers and sisters; Joyce Bayes (Fred), Claire Michaud (Roly) and Guy Higham. He will also be missed by Annettes brothers and sisters, Armand Dureault (Simone), Gerry Dureault (Barb), Ida Sulkers (Leonard), Dolores Dupas (Emile) and Eleanor Dureault, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Ed was predeceased by his parents Ernest and Alberta in 1982. Ed was born on June 20, 1926 and grew up with his family in St. Vital. He worked for Environment Canada as a meteorologist for many years and prior to his retirement at age 65 he also worked for the provincial government in the department of Workplace, Safety and Health. He served with the 2PPCLI in Korea and remained very active in the 2PPCLI Veterans Association. After retirement he devoted much of his time to volunteer work including spending many hours with St. Bernadette Mens Club and canvassing yearly for the Heart and Stroke and Kidney Foundation. Most of all he will be remembered for his wry sense of humour, his beaming smile, his selfless nature and positive spirit that shone through until the end. Even on his last day he was joking with his family and hospital staff. The family would like to express their gratitude to the nurses, doctors and support staff of the CCU/MICU Unit at St. Boniface General Hospital. Funeral service will be held on Monday, April 16 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Bernadettes Parish, 820 Cottonwood Road, with viewing prior to the service at 1:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Manitoba Heart and Stroke Foundation, 301-352 Donald, Winnipeg, MB R3B 2H8.
