ISABELLE MARY ANN SMITH (nee BILLINGTON) Peacefully on April 1, 2001 at the Selkirk General Hospital, Isabelle Smith, aged 88 years, of Lockport, Man. Isabelle was predeceased by her husband William; sons, Oliver and Grant; daughter Joyce Carter; brothers, Ernest and Dickie Billington; and sisters, Lena and Violet Parks. She leaves to cherish her memory a daughter Linda of Winnipeg; son Carl of Toronto; daughter-in-law Hazel Pruden of Edmonton; 13 grandchildren, several great- grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Isabelle was born in Lockport on December 21, 1912 and had resided there as well as Clandeboye and Meadowdale. She was a very active member of the Legion Ladies Auxiliary Br. 42 for many years. She was also a longtime member of the ACW of St. Thomas Church. She enjoyed curling in her younger years. Isabelle will be fondly remembered for her quick wit, sharp tongue and wonderful sense of humour. She will be sadly missed by all her loving nieces in the Lockport-Selkirk area. Prayers will be said on Thursday, April 5 at 8:15 p.m., in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel, Selkirk. Funeral service will be held on Friday, April 6 at 2:00 p.m., in the St. Andrews on the Red Anglican Church, with Rev. Stephen Sharman officiating. Interment in the Churchyard. Active pallbearers will be Bobby, Dale and Rodney Pruden, Rick and Russ Neibel and William Gislason. Honorary pallbearers will be Archie Stamm, Jim Berry, Ron Fewchuk, Lorne McDonald, Jack Grobb and Wayne Harris. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements.
