GEORGE HAMILTON LOWRY On Tuesday, April 3, 2001, at Deer Lodge Centre, surrounded by his family, George passed away after a lengthy illness. He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Doreen and his three children, Keith of Germany (Ingeborg) and Ina, Patty Best (Craig), Lindsay and Scott, Janice Smith (Bruce), Brandyn and Rebecca. He is also survived by his two nieces, Bonnie Dyson and Lynda Michalchuk whom he considered as daughters and their children, Gary and Michelle as well as numerous cousins. He was predeceased by his only sister Laura in April 1999. George was born on January 29, 1920, in Winnipeg, where he spent most of his early years in West Kildonan and later years in Norwood. He graduated from St. Johns School and immediately went to work at Manitoba Pool Elevators. In 1941 he joined the RCAF and became a flight navigator. From 1943 to 1945 he completed a tour of Europe and was later awarded the DFC. In 1985 George retired from Manitoba Pool Elevators after 47 years. George and his family enjoyed many years of camping at Sandy Hook, Falcon Lake and Detroit Lakes, Minn. After his retirement, George and Doreen travelled to Europe, Hawaii and California. George enjoyed curling and golf. George was a very loving and supportive husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle. We will greatly miss his kind and gentle ways but it is his dry sense of humour that we will miss the most. The family extends sincere thanks to the staff of St. Boniface Hospital, Riverview Health Centre and especially to 2 South and T 5 at Deer Lodge Centre for their care and support. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CNIB, 1080 Portage Ave., Winnipeg, Man., R3G 3M3, or a charity of choice. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 7 at Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. (south of the Royal Canadian Mint). Youve never been a man of many words, but all the caring things you did spoke volumes. Isle of View Arrangements entrusted to: GLEN LAWN FUNERAL HOME 455 LAGIMODIERE BLVD. 982-7550
