EMILY M. ROBERTS
Date of Passing: Apr 04, 2001
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryEMILY M. ROBERTS Peacefully, in her sleep on Wednesday, April 4, 2001, Emily Roberts passed away at the Oakview Extendicare residence. Known as "Maudie" to her family and close friends, she was predeceased by her beloved husband Jim. Left to mourn her passing are her daughter Ruth (George MacPherson) son Norman (Eunice) grandsons, Larry, Robbie, Ricky, Grant MacPherson, Brad and Dan Roberts; as well as numerous great-grandchildren, nephews and nieces. Born in July 1905, Maudie spent her early years where she was born in Guernsey, Channel Islands, and was very proud of her family name "LePoidevin". She had four brothers and sisters, Alfred, Bill, Mabel and Evelyn who all predeceased her. She moved to Manitoba as a young teenager, eventually married Jim and spent many happily married years in St. James. Maudie was one of the longest term members of the St. James United Church and recounted many happy times spent with her friends in the "Friendship Circle" at the church. She even convinced husband Jim to becoming Scoutmaster at the St. James United. An important part of her life was her friendship with her neighbours on Marjorie Street. She learned to crochet at an early age, and eventually began creating beautiful table cloths, which adorn the tables of many a home of friends and family. Her last decade was spent in the Oakview Extendicare residence in St. James. Always known for a good sense of humour, it seemed in her latter years her rapier-like wit and sense of comic timing became even better. She developed many friends among the staff and volunteers at the Oakview residence. The family would like to sincerely thank all those at Oakview who made Maudies last years so much more happy. In accordance with Maudies wishes, cremation and a private funeral has taken place. Arrangements entrusted to: CHAPEL LAWN FUNERAL HOME CEMETERY AND CREMATORIUM 885-9715
