SPEERS (nee BOWMAN) September 4, 1910 - April 7, 2001 After a lengthy illness, Aileen passed away peacefully with her daughter at her side. Aileen was born at Forrest, Manitoba and moved to Alexander, Manitoba at a very young age. She attended school in Alexander and received her teaching certificate from the Normal School in Brandon. She taught for one year at the Assiniboine Country School. In 1933, Aileen married her soul mate, George Speers and together they farmed, enjoyed card games, fishing trips, entertaining and family. They retired from farming and moved to Brandon in 1969. Shortly after her husbands death in 1987, she moved to Winnipeg to be close to her daughter and family, In 1999, she moved to Tuxedo Personal Care Home. Aileen was predeceased by her husband George; five brothers, Harry, Norman, Joe, Warren and Jim; three sisters, Ruth, Edith and Bea. She is survived by her daughter Elaine (Tom) Scott and four grandchildren, Glen (Susan) Scott and their daughter Kaitlyn, Lynn Scott, Karen (Scott) Morgan and their children, Leigh and Derek all of Winnipeg and Joanne (Mark) Hayes and their children, Lauren and Cameron of Victoria, B.C. Aileen is also survived by two sisters, Lorna Weir of Kelowna, B.C. and Gladys Veitch of Victoria, B.C. and many nieces and nephews. In compliance with mothers wishes, there will not be a funeral service. A private interment will take place in Brandon at a later date. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba, 120 Donald Street, Winnipeg, MB, R3C 4G2 would be appreciated. "We love you Mum, Gran. You were always there for us."
