MARY ETHEL CASSELS (nee BROWN) Mary passed away on Wednesday, April 11, 2001, at Deer Lodge Centre at the age of 100 years and 9 months. She was born July 5, 1900, on her folks Pioneer Homestead in Melita, Man. She (with sisters, Mable, Myrtle and Ann and brother David) was educated in a one-room school house and then onto Melita High School (14 mile round trip by horse and wagon). Marys home was Norwood for over 60 years. Gardening, cards, bingo, knitting, cooking Sunday meals (mmm) and enjoying her eight grandchildren were favourite pastimes. She is survived by her youngest son Donald and family of Winnipeg (Geri, David, Peter and four-legged "Tiger") youngest brother Lindsay and family of Melita (Betty, Alan, Gary, Terry and Elvin). Mary was predeceased by her husband David L. in September of 1955 and eldest son Earle in January of 1986 who is survived by wife Joey of Regina, Sask., and children, Earla, Bruce, Leigh Ann and Alan. A private farewell will be held with inurnment in Brookside Cemetery. Our family would like to thank the care givers at Deer Lodge, Myron in Physio, Eddie in Recreation and the Nurses who are many (we/I cant name them all, so we wont name any).
