Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJOHN (JANOS) MAGYAR February 22, 1934- April 11, 2001 Peacefully, at his residence, on April 11, 2001, John (Janos) Magyar passed away. He will be sadly missed by his loving wife Mary; son Peter, daughter-in-law Sandi, and grandchildren Mary-Margaret and Adrienna. He also leaves to mourn his passing, his sisters, Maria Szobocsan and Rose Simonka and their families in Slovenia; cousin Frank Magyar and wife Irene and family in Winnipeg and many other relatives and friends in Winnipeg, Toronto and Europe. John was born on February 22, 1934 in Lakos, Slovenia to John and Julianna Magyar. He moved to Canada in 1955, married in 1956, and made Winnipeg his home. He was a founding member of the Hungarian Kapisztran Folk Ensemble of Winnipeg and had been actively involved with the Hungarian-Pannonia Pavillion at Folklorama. He was a long-standing and devoted member of St. Anthony of Padua Hungarian Roman Catholic Church. He was self-employed as proprietor of Jet Drycleaners and Tailors for 30 years. John was a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather. His greatest pride and joy were Mary-Margaret and Adrienna. Prayers will take place on Monday, April 16 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Anthony of Padua Hungarian Roman Catholic Church, 365 Burnell, followed by Mass at 10:30 a.m. with Fr. Paul Hancko officiating. Interment will follow in Assumption Cemetery. Pallbearers will be, Zoltan Ikotin, Frank Hungler, Oscar Marx, Steven Ikotin, Les Marx and Chuck Kovach. We will always miss you Papi, And we love you.
