Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJAMES WILFRED (WILF) JONES On Thursday, April 12, 2001, in his 78th year, Wilf died while he was at the Souris Health Centre, with his daughter Bev and grandson Brock at his side. Wilf is survived by daughter Bev; sons, John, Gerry (Lynn) and foster son David Burke (girlfriend Theresea) seven grandchildren, Ryan, Meagan, David and Brock Jones and William, Paul and Robin Burke; nephew Eddie; cousin Kev and many friends. He was predeceased by his parents, wife Fran, brother Murray and companion Betty. Wilf was born in Souris, Man., November 26, 1923. He grew up in Souriseveryday riding his bike across the famous Souris swinging bridge to go to school. He met the love of his life Fran, and they were married over 50 years in love and laughter together. Many longtime friends from Wilfs loved sport of golf will surely miss him, along with the heartfelt friends from #90 Fort Garry Legion, #60 Souris Legion and the XII Manitoba Dragoons and longtime friendships he made at the Correctional Service of Canada from 1959 to 1984. Wherever Wilf went, whether it be at a new job or by simply sitting comfortably in his pjs greeting friends and family, he always smiled at life and shared his love with us all. Wilfs humour and his teasing manner always brought sunshine even at the lowest time. Our sincere thanks and appreciation to staff at Souris Health Centre and Kowalchuks Funeral Home of Souris for all their love and gentleness in caring for Wilf and the family. God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can and the wisdom to know the difference AMEN We all love you, and you will be missed. Rest in Peace Dad, Grandpa, Uncle, Cousin and Friend. Funeral service was held Tuesday, April 17 at 2:00 p.m. at Kowalchuks Funeral Chapel. Interment of ashes in the Souris and Glenwood Cemetery. In memory of Wilf, donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association or to the Canadian Cancer Society.
