JOHN CLARENCE JOHNSON Born in Gimli on July 27, 1927, Clarence moved to Winnipeg in 1945 and started work at Eatons where he was employed until his retirement in February 1991. Left to cherish his memory are his son Allan (children, Inga and Lilja) daughters, Kathryn (Johann) Fjeldsted of Lundar, Judith (Brian) Wiebe, Arlene (children, Jennifer and David), Marilyn (Phillip) Irwin; sisters, Gudrun (Scott) Davidson of Calgary and Margaret Johnson of Winnipeg. Clarence was predeceased by his wife of 27 years, Lilja Soffia, granddaughter Aurora Marie and his parents John Martein Viglundur and Svava. Clarence had many interests in life, but his family always came first. He loved to travel often taking on the job of chaperone to a busload of high school choir kids. He and Lilja took their children on many and varied vacations to all parts of Canada and the United States. He had a life-long love of music and dancing to an Old-time orchestra. Hockey was a constant part of his life. He loved to play hockey when he was young and diligently watched as he got older. Throughout his life Clarence had a real fascination for anything mechanical. He had endless patience for fixing things. He was very creative often coming up with original solutions and making his own parts for the repair. He will be deeply missed by all his family and many friends. Visitation will be held on Sunday, May 6 from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Neil Bardal Inc., 984 Portage Ave. (entrance on Aubrey Street).
