VIVIAN PEARL BOBEI It is with deepest sorrow we announce the passing of our dear Mother and Grandmother Vivian Pearl Bobei at the Winnipeg Health Centre on Sunday, April 8, 2001 at the age of 65 years. Vivian was born at Minitonas, Manitoba, on October 21, 1935. Daughter of Jim and Alice Lee (nee Whalen). She received her education at the Duncanville and Allenville schools. In 1950 she moved to Dauphin and was employed as a cook at the Hamilton Hotel. She married her first husband Bill Panko and had one daughter, Cindy. She had two more daughters Lisa and Sonia from her marriage to Wes Bobei. They farmed in the Keld District before moving to Dauphin in 1972. In 1975 she moved to Sioux Lookout to do what she did best... cook, Mom loved to cook and spent much of her time catering, her specialty as everyone knows, perogies. During her stay in Sioux Lookout she also worked for CFS and the Zone Hospital before moving to Winnipeg for health reasons. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy, especially Laci being her only granddaughter. Mom was not rich but she was definitely rich in other ways. She was unique, always giving, always sharing. Vivian was predeceased by her parents, foster mother Lena Bobrowski, sister Irene Williamson, and former late husband Wes Bobei. Surviving are three daughters, Cindy Lavallee (Dennis) of Saskatoon, Sask., Lisa Husak (Tim) of Sioux Lookout, Ont., Sonia Bobei (Alex) of Winnipeg, Man.; six grandchildren, Jean, Chris, Ryan, Justis, Dylan and Laci; two sisters, Doreen Taylor of Sudbury, Ont. and Helena Kimbery of Chilicothe, Ont. and one brother, Albert Lee of Little Current, Ont. Prayers were offered on Wednesday evening, April 11, at 7:00 p.m. from the Sneath-Strilchuk Funeral Chapel. Funeral service was held on Thursday, April 12 at 9:30 a.m. from the Dauphin St. Georges Ukrainian Orthodox Church. Rev. Taras Makowsky officiated and interment followed in the Riverside Cemetery. Dbr. Joanne Makowsky served as cantor. All of Vivians friends were to consider themselves as honorary pallbearers. Active pallbearers were Dennis Dean, Jean Lavallee, Chris Lavallee, Ryan Lavallee, Tim Husak and Alex Omer. Memorial donations may be made to the Kidney Foundation of Canada. The Sneath Strilchuk Funeral Service had care of the arrangements.
