Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryHELENE JEAN MACFARLANE (nee HAWLEY) Suddenly, and peacefully, Helene Jean MacFarlane passed away on Saturday, April 14, 2001 at the Health Sciences Centre in her 86th year. Helene was predeceased by her husband Ken in 1989; brother Bob Hawley; brother-in-law Bob Smith and by a sister-in-law Reta MacFarlane. She will be lovingly remembered by her two daughters, Joan Bancroft and her husband Michael and Janet Gibson and her husband John; four grand-children, David Bancroft and his wife Michelle, Catherine Bancroft, Douglas Gibson and Matthew Gibson. She is also survived by her sister Joyce Smith; sister-in-law Jean Hawley; two brothers-in-law, Douglas MacFarlane and his wife Dorothy and Gordon MacFarlane; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Helene lived her entire life in Winnipeg. She and Ken were born and raised in the Fort Rouge area; raising their daughters on Golding Street and then Borebank. In 1989 they moved into Fred Douglas Place and Helene resided there until 1997 when she moved to Lions Manor. Helene was devoted to her family, church and her many friends. Cremation has taken place and there will be a funeral service at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 18 in Westworth United Church, 1750 Grosvenor, with the Rev. Clark Saunders officiating. A reception, at the church, will follow the service. The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the staff of Rimmer House at Lions Manor and all Helenes family and friends for their care and support over the years. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Lions Club of Winnipeg, Housing Centre, 320 Sherbrook St., Winnipeg, MB R3B 2W6 or to the Westworth United Church Memorial Fund, 1750 Grosvenor, Winnipeg, MB R3N 0H9.
