ED YAREMCHUK December 16, 1931- April 12, 2001 Peacefully with his family at his side, Eddie passed into the arms of Jesus. Ed was predeceased by his dad Sylvester in 1959 and mom Rose in 1998. He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years Joyce; brother Walter (Gloria) sisters Wanda Graber (Adolf), Glady Malinoski (Gord) nephews David Graber, Gordie Graber (Carolyn), and his best friend Yankee. Eddie spent his formative years on the family farm in Poplarfield. In Winnipeg, he was employed at Beatrice Foods for 34 years before ill health forced him into early retirement. Eddiess passion was amateur boxing. One of his proudest achievements was his establishment of the Pan Am Boxing Club, the longest existing club in the province. For his dedication, the boxing fraternity honoured him at a testimonial dinner on November 25, 2000. In his honour, the Ed Yaremchuk Scholarship Fund was established to help young boxers further their education. He was truly an inspiration and mentor to many young people. He was a long standing member at Young United Church. He also volunteered at the Winnipeg Humane Society. Our heartfelt thanks to the staff of 5A South, St. Boniface General Hospital, for their compassionate care. Pallbearers will be Harry Black, Bobby Olsen, Peter OKane, Julie Arnal, Danny Vandal and Jo-Anne Brooks. Honorary Pallbearers are all who were near and dear to him. Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • I briefly trained at Pan Am boxing in the early 1980s. So many good mentors we find along the way. Ed will be dearly missed by all who knew him. He was a man that would tell it like it is as a coach. When you're hardest hit you must stick to the fight for its when things go wrong that you mustn't quit. Hats off to Harry Black for learning and teaching the ropes along with Ken Johnson. May Ed's soul rest in peace. - Posted by: Christopher phillip Vardalos (peer) on: Mar 31, 2025
