DONNA MAY CHOPP (nee HAY) On Friday, April 13, 2001 at H.S.C. with her family by her side, Donna Chopp of Dugald, beloved wife of Ken Chopp, loving mother of Wayne and Dennis, fought the final round of her battle with leukemia, and went into Gods hands to heaven, at the age of 47. A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, April 17, at 1:30 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. with Rev. Fr. Owen Steeves officiating. A special time will follow directly after the service for family and friends at the Cropo Funeral Home. Donna was born on July 5, 1953, in Maryfield, Sask., daughter of Bob and the late Gladys Hay. She was raised and received her education in Windthorst, Sask., Arborg and Beausejour. She received her hairdressing license at Scientific Marvel Hair Designing School. She met and eventually married Ken Chopp in May, 1973. They established their home in Anola and in 1993 moved to Dugald. She ran her own salon out of the basement of their home. Donna made the most of her life spending time camping with Ken and the boys. She was active in curling and enjoyed bingo with friends. She had a pleasant, bubbly personality and always was quick witted, ready with a smile and a laugh. She was especially grateful for opportunities to travel with Ken and others to such places as Hawaii, Mexico, Bahamas as well as a memorable family vacation to Disneyworld. Predeceased by her mother Gladys Hay in 1994, she leaves to mourn her husband Ken; sons Wayne and Dennis of Dugald; father Bob Hay of Portage; five brothers, Donny (Wanda) of Lloydminister, Sask., David, Dale (Nancy), Frank (Michelle) of Portage, Tom (Carol) of Beausejour; four sisters, Joan of Estevan, Sask., Margaret (Howard) of Winnipeg, Diane (Roger) of Birds Hill, Violet (Barry) of Newton; many nephews, nieces, relatives and friends. Many heartfelt thanks and appreciation to all the doctors, nurses, and staff on Unit GD6, CancerCare Manitoba for their excellent care and compassion and to our family and friends for their support. In lieu of flowers and in memory of Donna, please consider donations to GD6 Oncology Unit - Trust Fund #8626, 820 Sherbrook St., Winnipeg, MB R3C 1R9.
