Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryHELEN ISABEL BOWMAN We wish to announce the passing of Helen Isabel Bowman, on April 13, 2001, following a stroke, at the age of 93 years. Mom was born in Brandon to William and Grace Duncan on October 16, 1907. She grew up in Brandon, and graduated from Brandon University. On July 1, 1933, she married James Morley Bowman, and they enjoyed 64 years of married life. Many good times were had entertaining friends and family at home, or at the cottage at Nutimik Lake. Although Dad was in a nursing home for his last four years, seeing Mom come to visit was always the highlight of his life. Mom enjoyed the trips she took with Dad on his CESO tours to many countries, including Mexico, South America, the Philippines and Thailand. Her memories and souvenirs made for many an interesting conversation in the family. Mom will be fondly remembered by her son Bill and Bev; daughters, Joyce, Lois and Cliff Stelter; grandchildren, Doug and Dorie, Joan and David, Barbara-Anne and Darren, Lori and Dave, Ken and Michelle, Bill Jr. and Roslyn, Bob, Brad and fiancee Lianne. She also had four great-grandchildren. Mom had a fall in June of 2000, and spent the summer in the HSC and in Riverview. Her goal was to return home and she did, in October. She spent the last five months enjoying being at home, and visits from family and friends. She was always agreeable to a game of Chinese checkers. Her most recent outing was a trip to the Orchid Show at Assiniboine Park with her friends, Joe and Hazel Dunsmore. She was looking forward to coming to Selkirk for Easter dinner, the arrival of spring, seeing the pansies in bloom as well as Brad and Liannes wedding. We will all cherish the memories of home and the cottage. We wish to thank Elaine and Tom Scott, for the grocery shopping until last summer, and for visiting. We also wish to thank Ann Blair, who tended to Moms needs with her nursing skills when called upon. We did appreciate their help immensely. These gifts, as well as the aid of the home care girls, allowed Mom to remain in her own home, with dignity. This was very important to her. Mom was always so thankful for friends and family, and any little thing that was done for her. She always had a smile and a good wish for everyone, and it was a joy to do good things for such a special lady. Cremation has taken place and a private family interment of ashes will be held at a later time. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Crescent Fort Rouge United Church, 525 Wardlaw Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3L 0L9. THOMSON FUNERAL CHAPELS 783-7211
