MILDRED FRASER October 18, 1921- April 14, 2001 Peacefully, on Saturday, April 14, 2001, Mildred Fraser passed away at Riverview Health Centre with her children at her side. Mom handled her nine and a half month battle with cancer with the same dignity and quiet courage she carried throughout her life. Mildred was born and lived her life in Winnipeg. Mom loved family gatherings and being with her friends above all else. She had a kind and generous heart with a ready smile of welcome for all. After retiring from the Canadian Wheat Board in 1986, Mom enjoyed many trips within Canada and to the U.S. The trips to Great Britain, which she shared with her sister Dorothy and her daughter Penny, held special memories for her. Mildred was predeceased by her parents John and Dolly (Natalie) Mikush and her sister and friend, Dorothy Hanley. She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Penny (Jack) Smith and Larry; granddaughter Randi (Todd) Bender; great-grandchildren Logan Bender and Emmorie Bender; her loving sister Audrey Fast; nieces and nephews Braden (Kathy) Fast, Jodie Fast, Rick (Terry) Fast, Craig Hanley (Jackie Dubofsky), Laurel (Jim) Robertson, and many friends. Penny and Larry are very grateful to Laurel, Jim, and Aunt Audrey for their extraordinary care and concern for Mom in the past months. Mildreds family would like to thank all the home care workers and nursing staff of the Palliative Care Program at Riverview Health Centre for their compassionate care. Mom was a supporter of many charities. If friends so desire, memorial donations may be made to the Palliative Care Program, Riverview Health Centre, One Morley Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3L 2P4. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, April 17, 2001 at 3:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. When Im gone, release me, let me go... I have so many things to see and do, You mustnt tie yourself to me with tears, Be happy that we had so many years. I gave to you my love, you can only guess How much you gave to me in happiness. I thank you for the love you each have shown, But now its time I traveled on alone. So grieve a while for me, if grieve you must; Then let your grief be comforted by trust. Its only for a while that we must part, So bless the memories with your heart. Arrangements entrusted to: CHAPEL LAWN FUNERAL HOME CEMETERY AND CREMATORIUM 885-9715
