JAMES A. (JIM) CARTER James A. (Jim) was born on November 30, 1926 in Winnipeg, Man., and passed away on Saturday, April 14, 2001 from cancer. He is survived by his wife June; four sons, daughters-in-law and grandchildren, Bill; David (Sara) Kyle and Morgan; James (Carol) Jeff; Tom (Maureen) Dylan, Keara, Brynn all of Saskatoon, Sask; two sisters, Irene (Graham) of Winnipeg, Man., and Alice Carter of Vancouver B.C.; mother-in-law Marie Jamieson of Winnipeg, Man.; sister-in-law Catherine Strong of Winnipeg, Man.; brother-in-law David Jamieson (Ruth) of Whitehorse, Yukon. Jim enlisted in the Second World War as a boy soldier in the militia, then one and a half years in the Canadian Army. He worked in Seven Sisters Falls, Man., National Harbours Board Port of Churchill, Man. It was in Churchill where he met and married his wife June and where Bill and David were born. Jim started to work for the PFRA in 1959, moved to Cutbank, Sask., and spent eight years working on the Gardiner Dam project. James and Tom were born during this period. He moved to Russell, Man., in 1967 to work on the Shellmouth Dam and to Saskatoon in 1969, where the family still resides. After 38 years of service with the Federal Government, Jim retired in 1988. He had many hobbies, always kept busy, and will be missed by all who knew and loved him. "Twilight and evening bell and after that the dark and may there be no sadness of farewell when I embark" The memorial service will be held at Saskatoon Funeral Home, 338 4th Avenue North, Saskatoon, Sask., on Wednesday, April 18 at 11:00 a.m. Cremation. Memorial tributes may be made to Palliative Care at St. Pauls Hospital, 1702 20th Street West, Saskatoon, SK S7M 0Z9.
