GREGORIO ANANIA It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, and grandfather, Gregorio Anania, who passed away peacefully April 17, 2001 at the Victoria General Hospital at age 84. He was predeceased by parents, Angela and Giuseppe; brothers, Raffaele, Gaetano and Giuseppe; and sisters, Carmela and Teresa. His loss is mourned by his wife Alfonsina of 61 years; his children, Angelina (Angelo), Raffaele (Lucia), Felicia (Giuseppe), Alfonso (Carmela), Liliana, Elena, Franco (Mona) 30 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Also left to mourn are his brothers, Antonio, Angelo (Wilma) sister Caterina; and numerous sisters-in-law, nephews and nieces. Gregorio was born in Amato, Italy, October 1, 1916. He earned the well-deserved title of professional mason, due to his skills and capability. Even today all those houses, palaces and streets stand as proof of his precise, artistic work in Amato. He was proud of all these accomplishments. For this he will be forever remembered as "Mastru Guori". He enjoyed his life in Amato, with his wife, children, family and friends. He was a dedicated, hard working family man, who always had time to lend a hand. He had a routine of walking to the piazza making sure he always wore his favourite hat, to meet his paesani for a coffee and a game of cards. He also served courageously during the Second World War in Libya. Gregorio was known for his fantastic sense of humour, patience, kindness, words of wisdom and beautiful stories of his past. He had a smile that would light up a room and loved to be the center of attention. Gregorio wanted to reunited with his family in Canada. Three years ago he and his wife made the brave journey to leave their country for the love and devotion of their children. The most important thing for him was to have his family together for special occasions. This Easter, his wish came true, his entire family was lovingly gathered around him as he wanted us to be. He was always cherished and in his final days he was surrounded by so many people, his children, family and friends. There was always a loving hand for him to hold. The family wishes to extend sincere thanks to Dr. Shnider, Dr. Pacin, the nurses and staff of the 3rd floor Geriatric Unit of the Victoria General Hospital for their 24-hour personal care and attention. Papa, you will be missed. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, April 20 at 7:30 p.m. in Holy Rosary Church, 510 River Ave., with Rev. Fr. Sam Argenziano presiding at the Eucharist. Mass will be followed by a viewing. Pallbearers are Giuseppe Grande, Gregorio R. Anania, Gregorio Masi, Gregorio Grande, Antonio Falvo, Gregorio A. Anania, Deano Anania and David Conci. Interment will take place at a later date in Italy. If friends so desire, donations may be made to Alzheimer Society. Io muoio, ma il mio affetto per voi non morira: Vi amero dal cielo come vi ho amato sulla terra. S. Giovanni Berchmans LEATHERDALE GARDINER 1501 Waverley Street949-4860
