Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryELSIE SARAH RONALD, O.C. (nee BUHR) Peacefully on Friday, April 20, 2001 at the East Gate Lodge in Beausejour, Man., Elsie Ronald passed away at the age of 92 years. She was predeceased by her husband Wilbur Ronald and daughter-in-law Gladys Ronald. Left to cherish her memory are her sons, Earle "Ron" (Mary) of Calgary, Lorne of Winnipeg and Murray (Florence) of Anola; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and long time close friends. Elsie loved to share her life stories, including how she was born to Peter and Margaret Buhr on December 26, 1908 in North Dakota. Her early years were spent with her mother, father and two brothers, Nelson and Eddie in Gretna and Winnipeg. As she told it, while working at Eatons, a new shoe salesman named Wilbur Ronald caught her eye and she made sure to make his acquaintance. They were married on November 26, 1926. Elsie and Wilbur made their first home in Winnipegs Woodhaven area and later while raising their family they moved to Anola. Elsie was known for her outgoing, energetic, and fun loving ways, with a hearty laugh and a strong voice for song or debate. This voice was heard in many community service activities, which were recognized when she received the Order of Canada from Governor General George Johnson. Two of Elsies greatest achievements were the Sunrise Lodge and the Over 50 Club of Anola. Her love of family, friends, children, singing, reading, crosswords and cooking not to mention her catering endeavours remained with her throughout her life. Her Mennonite mother would be proud of her as we all continue to be. The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Dr. Zieler, and to all the Nurses and Staff at the East Gate Lodge. If friends so desire, donations in Elsies memory may be made to the Anola United Church, Anola, Man., R0E 0A0. Cremation has taken place. A Memorial service will be held on Tuesday, April 24 at 1:00 p.m., from Green Acres Funeral Chapel, Hwy #1 East at Green Acres Lane with Rev. Jane Wetelainen officiating. Interment will take place at a later date in Millbrook Cemetery. "Rest In Peace, Mom" GREEN ACRES FUNERAL CHAPEL 222-3241
