LYNN McCREA Between her birth, September 25, 1947 and her death on April 17, 2001, Lynn McCrea of Cowan, Man., lived her life to the fullest. Left to celebrate her life are her husband and partner, Don McCrea of Cowan; her mother Irene Little (Rex Boughen) of Dauphin; brothers and sisters, Lance Little of Ponoka, Richard Little (Karen) of Winnipeg, Carol Armit of Regina, Barbara Francois (Ron) of Winnipeg and Pam Little (Don Waters) of Banff; mother-in-law Iza McCrea; sisters-in-law, Lorraine Tibbet (George) and Jean MacIntyre (Stuart) all of Elm Creek; nieces and nephews, Vincent Little, Darcy Little, Irene and Eric Armit and Krista, Nadine and Matthew Francois and Donna Townley (Mike). Teaching was Lynns profession beginning in 1968 in Powerview, Man., after graduating from the University of Manitoba with a Bachelor of Physical Education and Bachelor of Education degree. Her teaching career continued from 1974 to 1983 at Campervilles Philomene Chartrand School and later Lynn became Director of Education for the Pine Creek Education Authority. In 1992 Lynn completed her Masters degree in Education. Retirement from teaching freed Lynn up to join her husband in operating Trapper Dons Lodge and Outfitting Business. Together they also managed Big Sand Lake Lodge in Northern Manitoba. Because of their dedication, Don and Lynn were awarded the Tourism Ambassador Award at the first Manitoba Travel presentation in Winnipeg on November 22, 1997. This award, presented by the Minister of Industry, Trade and Tourism, was given to the McCreas for "setting new standards of excellence for Northern and Aboriginal Tourism" and for the aggressive marketing of Manitoba tourism worldwide. Lynn loved the outdoors and was an avid sportswoman, whose passions included horseback riding, skiing and curling. Singing and playing bridge were also favourite pastimes. Lynns greatest treasure has been her family and especially her many friends. If friends so desire, memorial donations may be made to the Lynn McCrea Palliative Care Trust Fund c/o Don McCrea, Box 44, Cowan, MB R0L 0L0. At Lynns request, cremation has taken place and Memorial Services in celebration of her life were held on Friday, April 20 at 7:00 p.m., in Campervilles Roman Catholic Church of Seven Sorrows and on Saturday, April 21 at 11:00 a.m., in the Cowan Community Centre. Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • Lynn and I taught in the Philomene Chartrand School in Camperville for many years. She had an engaging personality and I thoroughly enjoyed my time working with her and under her when she became principal. She was a good friend. - Posted by: Cecilia Atkinson (Fellow teacher and friend ) on: Jun 17, 2020
