EDNA OBRIEN (nee NORENBERG) Edna OBrien, 83, passed away peacefully in her sleep Sunday morning, April 22, 2001, at St. Boniface General Hospital following a long illness. She was predeceased by her husband, Sidney. Edna is survived by her daughter Sharon (Charlie) Westergreen of Minneapolis and by her three sons, Roger (Elaine), David (Heidi) and Barry. She also leaves behind four grandchildren, Jason, Kelly (Steven) White, Eamon and Emelye and four great-grandchildren, Jocelyn, Danielle, Keenan and Kyle. Also left to mourn are five sisters, Lillian (Vern) Pruden, Ella Devion, Irene (Jack) Kapac, Ruby (Willie) Janssen of Kitchener, ON, Laverne (Neil) Chambers, and brother Arthur Norenberg, and numerous nieces and nephews. Mom was born on Christmas Day, 1917, on a farm in southeastern Manitoba. Thats where she learned the virtues of hard work, humility, and devotion to family, friends and community. She was a strong woman of quiet dignity and steady faith, respected by those who knew her. Loving and kind in all ways, she is missed. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, April 25 at 2:30 p.m. at Faith Lutheran Church, 1311 Dakota Street. In lieu of flowers, friends can make donations to Cancer Care Manitoba, or Faith Foundation, 1311 Dakota St., Winnipeg, MB R2N 1V8. The family thanks the staff of St. Boniface General Hospital, Manitoba Home Care and Ednas friends at Kirchoff Gardens and Faith Lutheran Church for their support over the years.
