Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGEORGE PENN Peacefully on April 20, 2001, in his 97th year, George Penn passed away at the Vista Park Lodge. George will be sadly missed by the surviving members of the family, sister Elsie E. Hewson; nephews, Lawrence (Shirle) and Harold (Nel) great-nephew Douglas (Carole) and numerous other great-nieces and great-great-nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by his parents Thomas and Matilda Penn; brothers, Bill and Albert and sister Violet. George was born December 4, 1903. He joined the Royal Canadian Air Force on April 22, 1943, and received an Honorable Discharge on April 30, 1946. In 1936 George sold his car to place a down payment on a house in River Heights and provided a home for his father and mother until their passing. George never married. The last four years of his life he resided at the Vista Park Nursing Home. George would have said a hearty "Here Here" to the wonderful staff. The family would also like to extend their thanks to Claudette, Eleanor, Flora, Sue, Kirk, Lorri and Cecile for taking such good care of their uncle and great-uncle. A memorial service will be held on Thursday April 26 at 2:00 p.m. from St. Emiles Church, 556 St. Annes, St. Vital. Interment to follow Garry Memorial Park.
