AGNES ALEXANDRA IRVINE (nee BROWN) It is with great sadness and sorrow to announce the passing of my mother Agnes Irvine, at the age of 80 years on April 23, 2001, in the Charleswood Care Centre. She went peacefully with her daughter by her side. She will be lovingly missed by her daughter Janice and husband Ralph Zebrinski and godson Leonard St. Marie. My mother was a very special person and a very important part of my life. I was born in my mothers heart, as I was adopted by her and husband Robert Irvine. She made me feel so very special as I was chosen to be a part of her life. Suddenly and tragically, our lives together as a family ended when my father Robert Irvine passed away on July 2, 1959. Mom was thrust into the role of single parent and she never faltered in her responsibilities to provide me with a good home, guidance and a lot of love and emotional support. Agnes worked in the laundry of the Winnipeg General Hospital (Health Sciences Centre) for many years. She made some very good friends with her co-workers, and those relationships continued to be nurtured and enjoyed until her passing. I can remember many evenings spent with her friends, listening to Irene playing the guitar, Josie on fiddle and mother singing harmony. The ladies of the laundry were so very good to us when times were tough. My mother made so many sacrifices to ensure that I had a proper education and provided me with a solid foundation that has stood me well in my life. Agnes really loved animals and she had many loyal dog companions in her life. Mindy was her last companion, and mother loved her enough to give her to a loving family when she recently went into the Charleswood Care Centre. I would like to thank Garth Grant of Barala Kennels, who took such good care of Mindy, and always took her to visit mother during her hospital stays. Mother was a very sociable person and loved sitting in her yard conversing with all the neighbours on Toronto Street. I would like to especially thank Mr. And Mrs. Silva who were her next door neighbours for over 25 years. They adopted her as part of their extended family and they share my sorrow and grief. My heartfelt thanks are extended to her caregivers over the years, especially the staff at the Charleswood Care Centre. I am very grateful for their assistance and support they have given me over these very difficult times. Mother was predeceased by her parents Christine and Charlie Brown. I loved my grandfather very much and I am thankful for the Brown family who always made me feel very special. Special thanks to my good friend Linda McNaughton and Cropo Funeral Chapel for their assistance during these past few days. I would also like to thank my husbands family for all their love and support. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held on Thursday, April 26 at 2:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. Inurnment will take place in Elmwood Cemetery at a later date, along side her loving husband. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Agness memory to the Winnipeg Humane Society, 5 Kent St., Winnipeg, Man., R2L 1X3. Cropo Funeral Chapel in care of arrangements, 586-8044.
