LILIANE BARON (nee LEMIEUX) It is with heavy hearts and great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother, grandmere and great-grandmere Liliane on Tuesday, April 24, 2001. Surrounded by her loving family she left us after a courageous battle with breast cancer. She has gone on to join her predeceased family including her mother and father, Marie and Wenceslas Lemieux; sisters, Hortense Duhamel (John), Edna Davignon (Don) and brother Dollard Lemieux. She will be forever loved and remembered by her husband Leo, her only child Claudette Griffin (Roger), granddaughters, Angele Griffin (Scott Skinner), Cherise Griffin (Scott Eros), great-granddaughter Desiree and "special" family Vine, Suzie, Michelle, Kristopher and Jackie Barron. She also leaves her brother Fred Lemieux and numerous nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly. Mom was born in Notre Dame de Lourdes on October 26, 1921. On October 28, 1942 she married Leo Joseph Baron and they moved to Teulon in 1946. With great determination and ambition to help Dad during his illness with polio, she opened a hairdressing salon in her home in 1951. Mom was a working mom with a strong work ethic. During her years as a hairdresser, she developed many long-lasting relationships. In 1973 after 21 years of rewarding work, she retired and went on to enjoy many activities she hadnt had the chance to pursue. Mom lived life to the fullest, always taking on new challenges with great passion. She enjoyed curling, playing bridge, golfing, clogging, was an active member C.W.L. and travelled the world. When not able to continue with some of these activities, she discovered new interests with the same determination. In her 70s Mom learned Tai Chi, took guitar lessons, swimming lessons, continued to play bridge regularly and was fortunate to be able to resume her love for golf after a hip replacement two years ago. Throughout these activities, she developed many more new and cherished friendships. She took great pride in all of us, as we did in her. We were so fortunate to have such a loving and caring person in our lives. She truly was a gift to us. A special person with so many wonderful qualities, the best of all, her loving spirit! You are invited to share in a cerebration of Moms life. Prayers will be held on Thursday, April 26 at 7:00 p.m. in St. John Vianney Church, Teulon. A memorial mass will be held on Friday, April 27 at 2:00 p.m. in St. John Vianney Church. Rev. Fr. S. Gacek will officiate. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, memorial donations may be made in Moms memory to St. John Vianney Church, Teulon; Hunter Memorial Hospital Foundation, Teulon; or Selkirk Breast Cancer Support Group, 246 Eveline St., Selkirk, MB R1A 1L8. MacKenzie Funeral Home Teulon in care of arrangements.
