KAZIMIERZ SZAJKOWSKI With deep sorrow, the family announces the death of Kazimierz Szajkowski on Tuesday, April 24, 2001 at the age of 82 years. Lovingly remembered by his wife Anna; three sons, Stanley (Irene), Pete (Karen), Roman; grandchildren, Kevin (Bohdanna), Terry, Ryan, Andrea and Michael as well as nieces and nephews in Poland. Kazimierz was born August 29, 1918 in Loszniow, Poland. His education at a teachers college was interrupted when the war broke out. He joined the Polish Allied Army and fought as a tank commander in the Italian campaign at Monte Cassino. After being injured, he was transferred to a Polish hospital in Scotland where he met his wife Anna. They were married in December, 1945. They lived in England until 1965 when they immigrated with their three sons to Winnipeg. Kazimierz worked at McGavins Bakery until his retirement in 1983. He was a devoted family man and a faithful member of Holy Ghost Church as well as a member of SPK (Polish Combatants Association) No. 13. The family would like to thank the medical and nursing staff 5th floor Seven Oaks Hospital and to acknowledge the compassionate care provided by his home care workers. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, April 27 at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Ghost Roman Catholic Church, 341 Selkirk Avenue with an Oblate Father officiating. Interment to follow at Holy Ghost Cemetery. If desired, donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba, ON109-675 McDermot Avenue, Winnipeg, R3E 0V9.
