DONALD (JAKE) BOURNS Peacefully on April 24, 2001, after a courageous battle with cancer, Donald Bourns, aged 66 years, passed away surrounded by his family. Donalds memory will be forever cherished by his wife of 33 years, Virginia; daughter Brenda; son Donald (fiancee Heather) brother David (Jeannie) uncle Robert Bell (Hilda) and many other relatives, nephews, nieces, cousins, friends, extended family in the Philippines; brothers-in-law, Fernando Pace (Cathy), and Afrodencio Pace (Goodie). He was predeceased by his father Gerald (1941), mother Edith (1992), and sister Pat (1980). Donald was born and educated in Winnipeg. In his younger days he worked for the CPR to satisfy his love for trains. For many years afterward he was a District Sales Manager with Sheridan Industries, Fort Garry Glass and C A Killeen & Sons. Donald took an early retirement from employment at the age of 53 to manage his own business. Donald enjoyed spending many summers at the cottage at Winnipeg Beach and loved his weekly get-togethers with the Boys Breakfast Club. He was very passionate for golf, fishing, boating and spending time with the family. We will miss sharing these activities with him. Our best legacy from Dad was his integrity, kindness and high moral values in life. The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Nene Rush, the staff of Palliative Care at St. Boniface Hospital, Dr. Schroeder, Dr. Maksymiuk, the Radiotherapy and Chemotherapy staff at CancerCare Manitoba and the St. Boniface Hospital Chaplain Tim Frymire. Memorial service will be held on Monday, April 30 at 1:00 p.m. at Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. (South of the Royal Canadian Mint). In lieu of flowers, if friends desire, donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba, 675 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9.
