PATRICIA MAY JAMIESON (nee SWINFORD) On Wednesday, April 25, 2001, Pat passed away peacefully at the Golden West Centennial Lodge. She was born on September 11, 1912, in Brandon, Man., the daughter of Frank and Elizabeth Maude Swinford (nee Irving. Patricia married John Walter (Jack) on September 7, 1947, and was raised in Winnipeg on Banning Street. She attended Greenway and Daniel McIntyre Schools. Her career included positions with Montreal Trust and Hudson Bay Mining & Smelting. Following Jacks death in 1964, she ran, in partnership with her father-in-law, D.N. Jamieson, the company of D.N. Jamieson & Sona farm implement dealership. In addition to raising two sons and subsequent to the sale of the firm, Pat worked with Office Overload in many positions and firms. She then worked with Thompson, Dewar, Sweatman in office support. After her professional career in which she took great pride, Pat volunteered numerous hours to St. James United Church as a Sunday school teacher and in the church friendship circle. She also volunteered for the Grace Hospital Auxiliary, Bourkvale Community Club and the Canadian Save the Children Fund. She travelled extensively throughout North America (chasing her granddaughters) and motor travelled throughout Manitoba as the "chauffeur" for her many friends. Pat highly valued her numerous friendships with wonderful people such as Ruby Thompson, Nellie Dale, Audrey Thompson, Shirley Foot and the ladies in her bridge club (we wonder if she ever played bridge?). She took pride in the Swinford name and its association with the Royal Winnipeg Rifles and also Jacks association with the regiment in the Second World War and his taking command of the Winnipeg Grenadiers in the early 50s. Remaining to forever cherish her memory are her sons, Norman Frank (Doreen) and Bruce (Karen) granddaughters, Patricia Quin (Tulsa, Oklahoma) and Kelly Davina (Winnipeg). She was predeceased by her parents, brother Jack, sister Florence Hodge and husband Jack. A Funeral Service celebrating Pats life will be held on Monday, April 30 at 1:00 p.m. in the St. James United Church, 234 Parkview St., Winnipeg, with Rev. Don McIntyre officiating. Our family sincerely appreciates the outstanding care and kindness provided by all the staff at Golden West Centennial Lodge to our mother. Thank you.
