Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGEORGE KOCH Peacefully, on April 24, 2001 at the E.M. Crowe Memorial Hospital in Eriksdale, George Koch age 92 years of Ashern, MB. George was born on January 1, 1909 in Hungary. At the age of 21 he came to Ashern and made this community his home. He worked for local farmers, until saving enough to purchase his first farm, this is where he raise cattle. In time he sold his first farm and bought a second and continued to raise his cattle there. He was also employed with Manitoba Hydro for many years. After retiring from both farming and Manitoba Hydro he moved to town where he enjoyed his home, yard and gardening. He is survived by his son Marvin (Garda) granddaughter Brandy; daughter Georgina Spence; grandchildren, Sonia, Andrew, Anita, Kathleen and George; great-grandchildren, Tommy Lee, Thamara, along with cousins, other family members and many good friends. Friends and relatives may pay their respects between 7:00 and 8:00 p.m. on Friday, April 27 at the Arnason Funeral Home in Ashern. Funeral mass will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 28 at the Holy Cross Catholic Church in Ashern with Fr. Ernest Kamath officiating. Pallbearers will be Joseph Koch, Matt Baker, Jim Stewart, Stanley Hanslip, Andrew Spence and George Spence. Due to the water conditions in the Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery in Ashern, interment will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Lakeshore Hospital Guild care of Runa Mangl, Box 591, Ashern, MB R0C 0E0, to be used in the Ashern Personal Care Home, and to the Lakeshore Handivan Association care of Vy Oversby, Ashern, MB R0C 0E0.
