Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryFREDA VIRGINIA WOODS (nee NORBERG) On March 31, 2001, Freda Woods passed away peacefully in Kelowna, B.C. She is survived by daughter Kathy Smith (Leigh Ondrack) son Don Woods (Marjorie) son-in-law Mike Smart; grandchildren, Patrick, Daphne and Christine Smart; foster sons, Bob Etienne and Louis Lindley; brothers, Gunnar (Delphie), Ronald, Edwin (Joy), George (Olive) sisters, Regina Taylor, Emma Farmer (Bob), Ruth Nordstrom (Lawrence) in-laws, Dorothy Norberg, Ralph Shields, and Kay Norberg. She was predeceased by son Bryan in 1954; husband Stan in 1997; daughter Karen Smart in 1998; parents, Julius and Maria Norberg; brothers, Nils, Eric, and Leonard Norberg; sister Violet Shields; in-laws, Samuel Taylor, Elaine Norberg. Freda was born December 7, 1923 in Gammelsvensky, Ukraine, moving to Canada in 1929 and Meadows, Manitoba in 1931. A memorial service was conducted by Pastor Graham Brotherton on Friday, April 6 in Westbank, B.C.

Freda was my mom in Canada when I had no family. When my career was so low I told her one Friday evening I could lay a piece of paper on the floor and hang my legs off it, she told me, "let me talk to Ms Hagger about it tonight". The next morning my phone rang from a client and my life and career changed forever because Freda cared about me.
