NORRIS GEORGE AITKEN On Sunday, April 22, 2001 at the Donwood Personal Care Home in Winnipeg, Norris George Aitken died, as he had lived, with his fist in the air. Funeral services were held on Thursday, April 26 at 1:30 p.m. from the Dauphin St. Pauls Anglican Church. Rev. Ann Crossland officiated and interment followed in the Riverside Cemetery. Norris is survived by his wife of 59 years Beryl Mary Aitken (nee Hiddleston) daughters, Mary Quick of Dauphin, Joan and husband Barry Nadolny of Eriksdale, Beth and husband Tom Monson of Dauphin, Helen and husband Ted Ritzer of Edmonton, Dawne and husband Kevin Saulis of Ottawa, and son Allan Aitken and Raven of Winnipeg; 22 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; brothers, Tom Aitken and wife Lyl of Roblin, Bruce Aitken of Trout Creek, ON, and numerous nieces and nephews and hundreds of ex-students. In lieu of flowers donations in memory of Norris to the Parkinson Foundation of Canada would be appreciated by the family. All those that Norris loved may consider themselves as honorary pallbearers. Active pallbearers were Warren Quick, Curtis Campbell, Ken Nadolny, Jeremy Monson, Andreas Ritzer, Matthew Aitken and Adam Saulis. Tom Monson gave the eulogy and Eric Saulis read a poem. The Sneath-Strilchuk Funeral Service had care of the arrangements.
