Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGEORGE HENRY ATWELL On Tuesday, April 24, 2001, George Atwell passed away at the Victoria Hospital at the age of 77 years. George never married and was predeceased by his parents. He is survived by his sister Phyllis (Harry) Southwell of Southampton, England and his nephews, Keith, Gary and Greg Southwell, all of England, other more distant relatives and many friends. George was born on Davidson Street in St. James, Man. on September 29, 1923. He served with the Ordinance Corps, Royal Canadian Army during the Second World War. After his release from the Army, he worked for a number of years for Crescent Creamery Ltd. before commencing a career with Canada Post from which he retired in 1989. His special hobby was fishing and he very much enjoyed travelling. George was a longtime member of the Fort Rouge Legion. A graveside service will be held during the interment of his ashes at St. Johns Cathedral Cemetery, 135 Anderson St. at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, May 7, 2001.
