Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryIVARS ULDIS DIRIKIS With great sadness, the family announces the sudden passing of Ivars, aged 49, on April 19, 2001 in Vancouver, BC. He was much loved by his parents, Elmars and Velta Dirikis of Winnipeg; sister Edite (John) Patterson of Toronto; niece Kristen (Colin) Chisholm of London, ON; his aunt and two nieces in Latvia; and many friends in British Columbia and across Canada. Ivars was born and raised in Winnipeg where he completed his early education at Vincent Massey Collegiate. While enrolled at the University of Manitoba, he travelled west to British Columbia for summer work and remained there all his career. In recent years, he worked in the motion picture and television industry, a job he truly loved. He was an active member of IATSE Local 891. The family expresses sincere appreciation to the doctors and staff at St. Pauls Hospital for their diligence and kindness during this difficult time. In particular, we wish to thank Mr. Willis Karsgaard and Ivars many friends and co-workers at IATSE Local 891 who gathered together to celebrate Ivars life and accomplishments. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Pauls Hospital Foundation in care of St. Pauls Hospital, 1081 Burrard St., Vancouver, BC V6Z 1Y6 in memory of Ivars. Ivars was a free spirit, possessed of a warm heart and an uncompromising zest for life. We wish him well on his new adventure.
