RON DOWNIE On April 27, 2001, John Ronald Downie passed away. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Margaret; his four sons, John (Sandra) of Halifax, Bruce (Lindsay) of Victoria, Glen (Dale) of Toronto and Paul (Andrea) of Winnipeg; his grandchildren, Janet, Jennine, Caitlin, Ian and Emma; his brother David and family and his brother-in-law Bill Kyle and family. An older sister Margaret and brother Jim predeceased him. Ron was born in Wawanesa, Man., on February 20, 1917. As a young man, he moved to Winnipeg where he made many friends through the church and YPU, where he met and married Margaret. For much of his career, Ron was a customs broker, first with Wm. G. Bell and Co. and later with Kuehne & Nagel. Ron taught and called at several square dance clubs in the city over the years. He enjoyed canoeing, sailing and camping. Family trips took Ron, Margaret and their sons across Canada several times, and he passed on this love of travel and the outdoors to his children. More recently, he was active in curling and lawn bowling. The family wishes to thank the staff on GA4 of the Health Sciences Centre for their compassionate care. A memorial service will be held in Churchill Park United Church, Beresford at Nassau, at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 1. Flowers are gratefully declined. THOMSON FUNERAL CHAPELS 783-7211
