GARY ALEXANDER KANE Very suddenly at his home in Comox, B.C., Gary Alexander Kane passed away on April 8, 2001 at the age of 50. Predeceased by his mother Jessie, in 1977; he is survived by his father Fred; his wife Bonny; son Adam; daughter Lara; grandson Byron and granddaughter Heidi. He also leaves his brother Steve (Heather) of Winnipeg and sisters, Kathleen Kane of Victoria and Michele Davidow (Jay) of Winnipeg. Gary was born in Winnipeg on May 29, 1950 and received his education in St. James. He took an interest in the bagpipes and made a great many friends as he played with the Lord Selkirk Boy Scouts Pipe Band and the Queens Own Cameron Highlanders. Gary joined the Canadian Air Force at the age of 17 and became an aero engine technician. Later, he became a Search and Rescue Technician and completed his duty as a flight engineer. Gary served his country with the Canadian Forces in many places around the world, making many friends and rising to the rank of Master Sargent. He retired in Comox in 1990. Since his retirement, Gary had numerous job interests. At the time of his death, he was employed by a good friend with Comox Valley Security. He met Bonny Allen while both stationed in Moose Jaw and they married in 1978. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Funeral services have already taken place in Comox on April 12, 2001.
