REV. HAROLD ALBERT MADDISON Peacefully, with his family at his side, Harold Albert Maddison passed away at Riverview Health Center on Friday, April 27, 2001. He will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by his wife of 51 years, Dorothy and his children, John and wife Sharon and their children Gillian, Joanna, Kristen, Arleigh, Devin, Justine and Brenden, Susan and husband Ken Stronciski and their children Jason and Scott, Joanne and husband Brad Vandersteen and their children Kyle and Paula, David and his son Richard Linklater. He is also survived by his sister June McOrmond and his brother Gerald and wife Elsie, all of Toronto. Harold was born August 11, 1927 in Thorold, ON. He moved to Sudbury in 1936 and attended Central and Elm St. Public Schools. He continued his education at Sudbury Mining and Technical School. He started working at INCO in Coppercliff in 1946 and transferred to Thompson, MB in 1963. In 1981, Harold took early retirement from INCO and then embarked on his true calling. He was ordained a Priest in the Anglican Church in November, 1983. Harold then dedicated his life to the church, serving in Northern Communities along the Bay Line. From Thompson he went to Ignace, ON for three years and then in the Interlake area, including two years in Stony Mountain. Harold then semi-retired, but remained active as Honorary Assistant at St. Annes Church in Winnipeg. Harold considered his involvement in building new churches in Thompson and Ignace among his many accomplishments. The highlight of his career of caring for others came in May, 2000, when Dorothy and Harold were awarded the Lillian Olin Award for volunteering many hours at Seven Oaks Hospital. Harold spent his life serving others, giving of himself unselfishly. Many friends at INCO and his friends in the church will remember his kind words and compassion in times of trouble. Thank you to the Doctors and Staff at St. Boniface Hospital, Oncology Unit and the Orthopaedic Ward. Also a heartfelt thanks to the Nurses and Caregivers at Riverview Palliative Care Centre, you are truly special caregivers. And a special thank you to Bishop James Allan, whose compassion and caring was a great support to Dad in his times of need. Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, May 1 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Annes Anglican Church, 253 Burrin Ave. with Bishop James Allan officiating. Interment to follow in Stony Mountain, MB.
