McKAY Peacefully, after a lengthy illness, on Tuesday, May 1, 2001 Reg McKay passed away at the Riverview Health Centre, at the age of 87. Reg will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 67 years, Nellie; daughter Betty (Bob) Walker; sons, Bob (Donna), Fred (Margy) 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his daughter Patricia and his son Don. Born in Winnipeg, Reg enlisted with the PPCLI in 1940 and served overseas until 1945. Following the war, Reg continued to serve his country with the RCASC until his retirement in 1963. After retiring from the Army, Reg was employed with Standard Aero Engine until his second retirement at the age of 65. He was very active with Masons and the Canadian Legion. Reg was also an avid curler, which he enjoyed until he was 81 years old. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 5 at 12:30 p.m. at the Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue. A gathering of friends and family will follow in the Chapel Lawn Reception Centre. The family wish to thank the staff at Riverview Health Centre, Dr. H. Maar and Dr. W. Heidenrech for their loving care. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 193 Sherbrook Street, Winnipeg MB, R3C 2B7.
