Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDAVID WILLIAM WATSON Peacefully, on Wednesday, May 2, 2001, David Watson passed away at the Concordia Hospital at the age of 89 years. Born in Winnipeg on November 21, 1911 to Thomas and Margaret Watson (Halliday) of Armaugh, Northern Ireland, Dave was a lifelong resident of Winnipeg. He was predeceased by his wife of almost 50 years, Margaret (nee Downie) his oldest son David; his brother Robert and his grandson Terry. He is survived by his children, daughter Judith (Bill) Grove; and sons, Ross (Florence), Brian and Jim. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren as well as his sisters, Margaret Talbot, Martha, Edith Franklin; and many nieces and nephews. David was employed at Air Canada for many years, retiring in 1975. He was also a pioneer in various fields including radio repair; he was one of the first cottagers at Big Whiteshell Lake. He and his wife were significantly involved in multi-racial fostering and adoption in the 1940s and 1950s, years ahead of their time. He will be remembered by his many friends and neighbours for all his good works and kindness, especially by Muriel McVeigh and Joan Irvine. A memorial service will be held at Neil Bardal Inc., 984 Portage Ave. (entrance on Aubrey Street) at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 5.
