WILLIAM (BILL) HERBERT AVERY Peacefully on Thursday, May 3, 2001, Bill Avery passed away at Deer Lodge Centre. He is survived by his two sons, Grant (Lynn) and Neil (Josie) and by his beloved grandchildren, David, Marc, Kristin and Paul. Bill was predeceased by his wife Grace; his parents, Charles and Elizabeth and his granddaughter Jenna Marie. Dad was born on September 4, 1914 in Winnipeg. After serving his country overseas in the Second World War as a Staff Sergeant in the Army (RCASC), he returned to Winnipeg. Until his retirement in 1980, he was employed as a cook at Deer Lodge Hospital, an occupation that he enjoyed very much. Dad was a devoted father and grandfather. He truly enjoyed being involved with his boys many and varied activities and derived a great amount of pleasure from coaching and watching them participate in their sports and other endeavours. Poppa/Grandpa was a very proud grandfather. He made certain that he played an active role in the lives of his grandchildren. The family would very much like to thank all the staff on T5, Deer Lodge Centre, for their kindness, caring and compassion during his residence. In accordance with Dads wishes, a private family service will take place after cremation. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 193 Sherbrook Street, Winnipeg, MB, R3C 2B7. Dad, Poppa/Grandpa, we all love you and will miss you deeply.
