Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryHAROLD EDWARD HARRIS June 21, 1909 - May 3, 2001 Our dear father and beloved husband of Nelly (nee Bettex) passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 3, 2001 at C.P.L. Poseidon Care Centre where they have resided since September, 1995. Dad was predeceased by his parents, Robert H. and Lillian Harris; brother Robert J. (April 22, 2000) and sister-in-law E. Marguerite (May 1, 2001). He is survived by his children, John (Joan) and grandsons, Robert (Louise), Michael (Gina), and John Jr. (Diana) Yvonne (Gerry Boyd) and granddaughters, Glenis (Steve Younger), Alison (Gregg Sedun), Patti (Dean Moore) Phil (Sheila) and granddaughters, Regan (Dan Ferguson), Andrea (Dennis Piasentin) Simone Lund and granddaughter Jennifer (Dean Gilchrist) and 12 great-grandchildren. Dad grew up on Walker Avenue and attended Lord Roberts School where he was an original member of P.G. Padwicks School Orchestra. He completed his education at Kelvin High School. Mother and Dad were married December 5, 1931 in St. Albans Anglican Church Manse and raised their family on Walker Avenue. He was employed at the RKO Paint Shop, Famous Players (Metropolitan Theatre), Eatons Display Department, Fosh Signs and Display Industries for 19 years as a Display Artist. Dad was initiated into Tuscan Masonic Lodge in 1931 and was a past Master (1948). He received his 60 year Membership Bar from Lord Selkirk Lodge in 1991. His interests and talents were many. He enjoyed artwork in all media, lapidary work, woodworking, gardening (Winnipeg Horticultural Society), music (violin, mandolin and cello) and photography. He served as a Vice President of the Lord Roberts Community Club when the new clubhouse was opened in 1949 - 1950 and played a great part in staging summer and winter carnivals. He designed and painted sets and did makeup for several Gilbert and Sullivan Operettas performed by the Choir of St. Albans Church. We will miss your smile and presence. Thanks Dad for the wonderful memories. Our family would like to thank Dr. J. Smart and the compassionate staff on the second floor of C.P.L. for their dedicated care to our parents. Harolds graveside service will be held on Wednesday, May 9 at 1:00 p.m. in Garry Memorial Park located at 1291 McGillivray Blvd. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a charity of your choice.
