ISABELLA (ELLA) JACK Early on Saturday, May 5, 2001, Isabella (Ella) Jack passed away in the St. Boniface General Hospital with her family by her side after a lengthy battle with Lupus. Ella was predeceased by her husband John in February of 1992, and her youngest son Dr. Robert A. (Bob) Jack in August of 1996. She is survived by her sister Christina Sharp; son Peter Jack of Calgary and daughter Mary Buckingham and her husband Jim of Banff; six grandchildren, Robin Jack-Jensen of Erin, Ontario, Karen, Kathleen and Sean Jack of Vancouver, Laura and Alison Buckingham of Banff, Alberta; great-grandchildren, Erik and Conner Jensen of Erin, Ontario. Ella was a very active participant in many associations, having been President of the Annie Bond Guild of the Childrens Hospital, for which she made dozens of quilts and other items for sick children. She was a Commissioner in the Girl Guides, working with young girls, and a member of the Book Mart, raising money for research into childrens diseases. She also volunteered for the Manitoba Museum and Living Prairie Museum. She guided many trips for school children to Hadashville to teach them about trees from the planting to maturity. She was very active in the Manitoba Naturalists Society and a member of the Manitoba Historical Society. In addition, she worked in her neighbourhood for many good causes including St. Marks Anglican church. After her family grew up, she went back to substitute teaching in St. Vital Schools. There will be a memorial service at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 8 in St. Marks Anglican Church, 19 St. Marks Place, St. Vital, with the Rev. Karen Binding officiating. If friends so desire, contributions may be directed to a charity of their choice.
